Pretty Baby Names–8 Quick Tips

Congratulations! You’re going to have a baby! That means it’s time to begin searching for pretty baby names, baby name origins and even the meaning of baby’s names.
Heaven knows that there is no shortage of required planning as you anticipate the arrival of your bundle of joy. Everything from the baby’s
nursery to the college fund and all things ‘twixt and ‘tween!
But one of the most important choices you’ll be making is your baby’s names. Yes, names if you’re planning on using a middle name in addition to a first name. While choosing a name can and should be a fun process, it can also be stressful as both mother and father strive to agree on the perfect name. After all, there are so many pretty baby names to choose from!
This is where a baby names book or baby names software can come in handy. But more on that at the end of this article.
First, here are a few tips when choosing a pretty baby name:
1) First and foremost: Your child has to go through his/her entire life with what you choose (unless, of course, he or she changes it later–but why put her or himr through that?). Choose a pretty baby name and bless them—
don’t curse them!
2) Does it have a nice “sound” to it? In other words, does the name—first, middle and last—flow well or does it sound funny or awkward
when spoken? Another related thought here: Are you thinking of such an uncommon or unusual name that people may not know how to pronounce it? If so,you might want to go back to the drawing board.
3) Keep in mind the initials that your baby’s name will create. For example,if you give your baby girl the name of Brenda Allyson Davis, her initials will be BAD. Is this what you want? Something to consider.
4) Look at baby name origins. This can be an interesting way to search for pretty baby names. Consider your ancestry. If you’re Irish, for example, you may take a look at gaelic names to see if any would suit either as is or slightly modified by you. This can certainly help individuality while still retaining meaning.
5) Name lists are nice, but think about whether or not you truly want to choose name at the top of the list. After all, other people are having babies, too, and are looking at the same lists as you. Do you really want your son to be one of 5 boys in his class with the name of Gavin? Instead, when looking at a baby names list, you might want to consider names towards the middle or even bottom of the list.
6) Like the unique name of a celebrity’s child? That could be fine—-or not. What if that kid grows up to be some famous derelict? Do you want your child sporting that same name?
7) Remember that some names or certain spellings are used for both sexes. My name has a spelling (in case you’re wondering, it’s Kerry!) that is used for both males and females, and I often get junk mail/address labels, etc. addressed to me in the wrong gender. Personally speaking, this does not bother me at all, but some people do find it bothersome, so it’s something to think about.
Perhaps the most important tip? To remember that only you can decide what the perfect name for your baby is. Not your families or friends, not some celebrity, not some name list—only you! Enjoy the process!
Having said that, as of 2009, here are a few baby names for boys that people currently like: Jack, Jacob, Aiden, Ethan, Noah, Logan, James, Benjamin, Caleb, Gavin.
Some current pretty names for girls include: Emma, Emily, Ava, Sophia, Madison, Ella, Abigail, Isabella, Elizabeth, Olivia, Chloe.

What are some Traditional Baby Names

When it comes to naming their babies, some parents like to stay with tradition. This means nothing that is too different such as Nevaeh, which is “heaven” spelled backwards, or a name such as “Ziggy.” This simply means sticking to the more traditional names that include “Michael” and “Thomas.”
Some individuals like to stay with tradition when naming a child after a parent or grandparent. There is also the fact that the most traditional names are the strongest of names. It is always good to evaluate every angle of a name because that child will be starting school someday and the child does have to live with the name for the rest of their life.
So what are some good traditional baby names?

With traditional, there is not really any room for guessing with a name. However, you may choose to stay with a traditional name but choose a different spelling. Traditional does not mean you do not have some room for creativity. You can be as creative as you want. If you stay traditional with the first name, have some fun with the middle name. Just make sure everything fits.
