Check about What Infant Potty Training Is

Infant potty training is also known as elimination communication and even natural infant hygiene. Though each term refers to the same practice, which consists of making your baby learn about how to use the toilet and not potty in their pants while they are still very young, which can be any period between birth and up to four months of age. In fact, parents that get started with infant potty training have a habit of dispensing with using diapers and prefer instead to take their babies to the closest toilet as soon as they believe the baby is going to pee or poop. However, some parents do make use of diapers once in a while and so it is really a matter of personal preference.

Radical Way Of Doing Things

In fact, even in as advanced a nation as the U.S., infant potty training is considered rather radical. Though it is not such a new idea because just some five decades ago most parents did in fact start infant potty training before their toddlers had reached the age of eighteen months.

However, in other parts of the world, infant potty training is not so widely known and in regions such as Africa, Asia and even in Europe, babies are usually started out on potty training only after they have reached the age of two years.

There are many advantages to infant potty training though not much scientific data can validate such findings. For one, infant potty training means that the baby and their mothers can bond well together. It is easier on the infant and more comfortable for them as well. In addition, infant potty training allows the baby to become more independent and it also helps in reducing diaper waste, while it is also a natural and normal thing to teach your baby.

However, there are also some disadvantages to infant potty training as well and they include having to spend a lot of time and being very dedicated in order to achieve results, and the baby may not be physically fit for such training. There are also sure to be many goof-ups along the way.

Finally, there is really no way to know for sure whether infant potty training will work in every instance though it could mean needing to change fewer numbers of diapers. But it still won’t mean that the baby can do without using diapers entirely.

The bottom line is that infant potty training can work for some and not for others and it can also aid in teaching babies to be potty trained sooner than if you were to wait until the age of two before starting potty training.

Babies with Thrush and Diaper Rash

There are different signs and symptoms that let a parent know when their child has a diaper rash. It can be a chronic issue that is very uncomfortable and sometimes painful. It should be treated properly and not left ignored. Diaper rash itself can also be a symptom of another underlying problem that your baby may have. Thrush is a form of a yeast infection just like other rashes are. Some rashes are caused by Candida albicans which is a type of yeast. If your baby does have thrush, it is not uncommon that they will also have a rash from their diaper.

There are side effects that thrush causes that will help you determine if your baby has it or not. The symptoms look different from a rash caused by a diaper. Thrush only occurs in the mouth and there will by small white patches on the roof of the mouth, the sides, and on their tongue. Most parents say that it looks like there is milk stuck on their baby’s mouth. Usually newborns develop this type of rash and it’ll occur up to four to six weeks after birth.

Unlike other rashes, thrush can go untreated. It usually doesn’t cause a lot of pain or irritation. If your child does appear to be uncomfortable, you may need to treat it with an antifungal like you do with other rashes such as diaper rash. If there is discomfort, it will usually only be when they are feeding. The rash should clear up within a couple of weeks on its own. If it doesn’t, you may need to consult your doctor about the rash.

Unlike a diaper rash, there is nothing that can be done to prevent thrush from occurring. A rash caused from diapers can be prevented and treated with diaper ointment. Thrush is not as severe as some other types of rashes that cannot be left untreated. If your child does develop thrush, it is more important for you to treat the diaper rash that may also appear because of the Candida albicans. If you are breastfeeding, you also need to watch for thrush to appear on your own body. It can pass from child to mother and vice versa. You can treat thrush on your body with an antifungal.

If your newborn develops these types of rashes, be sure to give them a little extra love and attention. Be sure that the rashes don’t get too severe or bothersome to your baby. Thrush isn’t dangerous to your child’s health but it shouldn’t be ignored either. Treat any rashes that may develop.

Why You Should Use A Swim Nappy?

Swimming pools and health clubs are a great experience for a toddler, as well as for your self. Swimming and splashing around can really build your child’s confidence in the water. However, the good time can be spoiled if you have to worry about your baby having little accidents in the water. A swim nappy can prevent accidents and you can be sure sand or seawater will not leave an unpleasant reminder.

Unlike a specially designed swim nappy, normal swimwear does not give any protection against sand and salt. Going to the pool with normal nappies also has to be avoided: an ordinary, disposable nappy will soak up the water in a few seconds, weighing your baby down. If littered, the absorbent core can also damage the filter system of the pool.

A swim nappy has snug-fitting legs and a waistband, so the results of small accidents will never be released into the water. Its absorbent core will never burst out, and it doesn’t soak water so and there is no risk of salty water or sand irritating your baby’s skin. However, because a swim nappy is designed not to soak water, it does not hold urine either. These diapers will only hold poop.

One can choose from two main types of nappies: the disposable swim nappy is very much similar to normal disposable ones. They come in a pack and you can throw them out after use. They don’t swell up in the water, but they still have an absorbent core.

The reusable swim nappies are made from a material very similar to ordinary bathing suits. This allows water to escape, but will stop the solids. These diapers can be washed and re-used, so they are more economical if you take your baby swimming a lot. There are also reusable nappies with a waterproof layer. A swim nappy of this kind has a kind of plastic pant within the nappy. There are also other nappies with an inner mesh layer, which again retains solids but lets the fluids through.

Swim Nappy is essential baby swimwear to prevent embarrassing accidents. Click here to learn how Swim Nappy can ensure your babies to have wonderful swimming experience.

Potty Training 3 Year Old Children

Statistics say that most children are potty trained by the age of 2, but this is definitely no hard and fast rule. Many parents only start potty training their children at age 3, so there is no need to worry if your child is not quite potty trained at this age yet. In this article I will share a very effective method of potty training 3 year old children that you can start using today.

The advantage of potty training an “older” child is that most of the required developmental skills will already be present. A lot of children can already talk at the age of 3, so communication and participation is normally a lot easier. The child will also be more aware of bodily functions than the average 2 year old. This basically means that physical and emotional readiness in the child is normally not an issue at this age.

For this reason, one of the most effective ways of potty training a 3 year old is Dr. Phil’s one day potty training method. With this method, a special doll that wets is used to teach the child about using the potty. This method uses the well known concept that the best way to learn something is to teach it. The child teaches the doll to use the potty and in the process learns to use the potty themselves.

While this method is very effective, it is a bit more expensive than other methods because you will have to buy a special wetting doll (available for boys and girls) and a few other items that will be used during the training. It normally takes one day or less for the child to get rid of the diapers using this method, so it is one of the quickest methods available.

Visit Potty-Training-Secrets.com for more information on how the one day method works, the items required and how to get started.

Natural Wisdom in Birth and Mothering

In the 1960’s childbirth without medication was not done. Laboring mothers were sent to the hospital and most were given a drug that was referred to as “Twilight”. The woozy mother was unable to push effectively and a large number of babies were born blue due to the stress.

It was taboo to breastfeed in that era. It was thought that the only people to even consider nursing babies were dumb, backwoods people. A nurse told me that it was vulgar to put a baby to your breast to nurse. Doctors told new mothers that it was impossible to know the baby was receiving adequate nourishment because breastmilk couldn’t be measured. ‘Since you cannot measure breast milk, it is dangerous to nurse.’ ‘People who breastfeed are letting their babies go hungry!’

In order to assure proper nutrition, these same doctors said you needed to feed babies according to their proven medical recommendations. Following doctors’ orders, mothers fattened their babies with homemade formulas of pasteurized milk flavored with Karo syrup. This was before throw-away diapers and commercial baby formulas were being marketed.

Nature and medicine had parted ways. Women began to ask their doctors questions.

The year was 1973, and I joined the ranks of those women trying to find our way back to motherhood as God intended it. I looked for answers to my many questions. A doctor pooh-poohed me. His manner indicated that he thought I was dumb, and I almost believed him. In the face of his arrogance, I stiffened with a certainty born of an ancient mother-knowing. I told him in no uncertain terms that I would have this baby at home. If he dared to call Child Protection on me, I informed him that they would never find me and that I would not be stopped from birthing AND nursing my baby.

My lone battle isn’t what won the war, though. Many voices are required for real change. _ Such change requires a widespread outcry. Rather than accept the latest recommendations, women in the 60’s started writing books about how to give birth naturally, how to breastfeed effectively and how to bond with your baby rather than allow your little one to be carted off to a nursery. From those seeds grew the homeschooling movement. It is to those passionate, rebellious women we owe a debt though many books have since been published on the topic of natural childbirth and mothering. It was this same passion that made young mamas jump up and scream, “Yes I CAN!”

Now because a few courageous authors used their voices and their pens, blue babies and twilight births are a thing of the past. A doctor that claimed breastfeeding was vulgar or unsafe would lose all credibility. Today, the first generation of naturally birthed, homeschooled children are educated, successful parents homeschooling their own healthy, happy offspring. The old adage, ‘Mother knows best’ has been proven when it comes to babies.

Those books gave me and other mothers valuable information about natural methods even if the author wasn’t always a believer. I was the beneficiary of their desire to inform.

Following the example of those pioneers that came before me, I have written this latest book, The Vision by Debi Pearl. It is my desire to see those who come after me benefit from my writing just as I benefitted from those writers from the 1960’s.

Preparing for Your Newborn

Preparing to bring your newborn home can be just as challenging as taking care of your baby. Taking care of your new child involves being prepared for any situation or normal occurrence that will arise. A newborn will need their diapers changed often throughout the day, will need to eat eight to twelve times a day, be changed into new clothes, and will have other needs throughout the day and night. Preparing for your newborn should be done before they are brought home from the hospital. Here are some nursery room essentials you will need to prepare yourself for bringing your baby home.

Decorating the nursery room can be a lot of fun and also educational for your baby. Choose colors or wallpapers with primary colors or soft pastels. You can choose colors that will stimulate your baby or soothe them if it’s a room you plan on using for sleep only. Also, there are certain pieces of furniture that are essential in a nursery. You will need a crib that is safe, sturdy, and reliable. A diaper changing table or a designated area for changing is critical because you will be changing diapers so often. Your baby will also have a lot of toys, blankets, and clothes so organizational pieces such as a dresser or shelves will be very helpful.

Once the decorating and filling the room is complete, you can purchase other items such as bedding, clothes, and toys. Your crib will need blankets, mattress pads, and crib sheets. An essential for safety is having a monitor hung on the side of a crib. To help your baby fall asleep you can buy a mobile that plays music and turns little toys. Your newborn will also need a lot of clothes. They will accidents during the day, and you’ll see that their clothes will get dirty from spit ups. You should have a lot of socks, onesies, soft clothing, and bibs. A newborn doesn’t necessarily need a lot of toys, so you can worry about buying them after they are a few months old.

The diaper changing station will need to be stocked with essential items at all times. You will utilize this area of the nursery a lot because babies need to be changed often. Besides having a lot of diapers on hand, there are other items that will be helpful. If you are using wipes, a wipe warmer is nice because your baby won’t have to be bothered by a cold diaper wipe. You should also have a baby wipe companion because it can help prevent diaper rash. diaper ointment is essential because rashes come often when babies are in diapers.

As your newborn develops a routine and has their own wants and needs, you may need other nursery room essentials. You might need items such as humidifiers, baby swings, a rocking chair, clothes hamper, or sleep soothers.

A baby bedding must be comfy and warm as this will be the baby’s only place to stay most of the time. Here are some of the tips to get all the basic needs for an infant.

The next accessories to get are blankets and crib sheets. The blanket must be lightweight and soft. This is to avoid suffocation because newborn baby likes to move around. Also, get a soft and durable crib sheets to be placed on top of the mattress pad.

Bed Lamps
Another accessory to consider is a bed lamp. It will be useful for the parents to change baby’s diapers at night and for feeding.

Toys and Musical Items
You can place some musical items on the bed. This is some kind of entertainment for the baby and to make him/her feels lively. Make sure that there are no furry big toys around the baby as he/she might grab and bite them.

Diaper Bags – Don’t Forget To Pack All This!

DIAPER BAGS – DON’T FORGET TO PACK ALL THIS!

Have you ever been out somewhere with the little darling and you reach into your bag, or whatever you may be using, only to realize that you don’t have what you need? Hopefully this short guide will help you avoid those moments of panic. If you are prepared for most situations that may arise both you and your baby are going to be happier.

Let’s start with the bottom end. Obviously you will need an ample supply of diapers. Figure at a minimum of one to two per hour of your outing. Along with that include a plastic bag for disposal of the dirtied ones. And of course you will need a supply of baby wipes. They can be purchased in travel packs that will fit nicely in your bag. You may also prefer to take your own changing pad. They work so much better than the back seat of your car or a park bench. And probably a whole lot more sanitary!

Now that we have taken care of what comes out we must deal with what will be needed to replenish the babe. Included will be milk/ water/ formula and solids. Don’t forget the containers and utensils for all.
You will also probably need a bib or two. And again more plastic bags for the dirtied ones.

A change of clothing from head to toe is also a definite must. Don’t forget a hat and gloves if the weather dictates such. It’s probably a good idea to throw an extra blanket in, it will come in handy when you least expect it to be needed.

Most often there are little side pockets on your diaper bag that will accommodate such items as medication, pacifiers, sanitary wipes, sun block and emergency phone numbers.

Last but not least you can throw a small toy or two in for entertainment purposes. And throw a snack in for yourself. You may still have room for a camera or a bottle of water for yourself also.

Of course the length of your trip will determine how much you need to pack. Remember most of the time it’s just a short time out and not a week long trip that you are packing for. I hope this may help you out and please be sure to enjoy your time with each other.
